There was a lot of hype to Winter Storm Juno, and while the cities might not embrace big snow totals, the mountains certainly do. Here in the Greens, Vermont resorts reported a range of snow totals from yesterday's accumulation:

Whaleback Opening Day - Saturday, January 10, 2015!!!

 Welcome to Whaleback Opening Day - Saturday, January 10, 2015!!!

We will be open from 9am to 4pm.

Runs open: Spout, Lower Spout, Upper Face, Bougainvillea, Novice Area

Lifts open: chair lift, rope tow, magic carpet!

Newcomers, we will have greeters in the parking lot helping you know where to go, and showing you the ropes. If you are a season pass holder and haven’t picked up your pass yet, don’t worry! Just go to the ticket counter and we will give you a voucher for the day.

Come hit the slopes with friends and family and enjoy a FREE hot chocolate or coffee on the house all day Saturday!!

Stay and watch the “Rock the Hills” snowmobile hill climb competition set to kick off at 5pm. Kitchen and bar will be open until 10 pm.

Bullet-proof conditions following another thaw and freeze, as temps dropped over 30° since yesterday. All upper mountain lifts are currently on standby due to gale force winds swirling around the mountain like a violent snow-globe. There will be other days.
